You need to install a mod . Mods can be found at www.invisionize.com.

I dont think invisionfree allows you to add mods though

Thanks Ill check it out. Like a moderator? Nevermind dont want to sound stupid.
Grinler
No mod means modifcation. Where you actually modify the invisionboard software

After I posted I figured it out! That site is great! I hope it will help me.

Ps is this baord from invision too?
Grinler

When they switch you to version 2.0, you will have an Online Status Indicator.

Is it automatically updated? When will it happed? Sounds great!
Grinler
No your provider will need to upgrade it. You should ask them.
cowsgonemadd3
So I should ask invision free about up-grading my message board?
Grinler
See if they have any plans on upgrading their software to version 2.0
ColdinCbus
You would need to contact the host http://members.freewebs.com/contactUs.jsp

2.0 invision free is not released yet, but if they are using that software, I would assume they are a registered customer and would get 2.0 once it is finalized.

Another question. I am trying to get on the ASAP thing. Need to finish my training of HJT first. Anyways Someone told me they could drop me in the future. Since it is free its on there host and if im draining bandwidth like this board does on a free version then I read they can dump me.

So........

How much would a board like this cost software to make it? I can get a website tohost it on right and just use the software? Is that how it works?
ColdinCbus
Well, that would depend on the software you want to use on the site. "Invision Power Board" is not free so you would have to pay a fee to get it. Lifetime License = $199.00
or One Year License = $69.95.

There are free bulletin boards out there, for example http://www.phpbb.com/ is a very good system too. The big thing you would need is to make sure of is get a hosting account that has a MySQL database included. It is pretty much the required aspect to setting up a board on your site.
Grinler
That and enough bandwidth... once a site starts moving along you can chew up bandwidth pretty quickly.
cowsgonemadd3
How much do you use daily or monthly? How would like I just go get a webhost with all the bells and whistles and........get the forum software 200.00 with mysql(is that it cant write it forgot spelling) And it will use my website(the board)? Is that how this site is. Just a host hosting your board? You use FTP?
ColdinCbus
I can't speak for BC, but I will give you the example of dozleng.com/CoU.

We started out using about a GIG a month and within a year are chewing through 10 GIG a month easly. More when HpHOSTS releases an update as we are the primary download for them now.

I would assume those numbers are double for BC as it usually has twice the members online all the time.

You might want to look a hosting service like this http://www.ipowerweb.com. I belive they have a message board software that comes with their hosting accounts.

I saw all their hosting plan , and like it. I would like to stick with invision , because I like it. I contacted invision free and they said that they won't drop my board , no matter how many people I have on it.that is good to know until I can pay for the 200 dollar board.they said the adds pay for it.I'm planning on getting a host for my freewebs site anyways soon. I hope.....
