Hey, all
I came across this the other day, all you have to do is take a simple 4 question test and microsoft will send you a free USB key.
http://www.microsoft.com//windowsxp/myster...rp/default.mspxOnce you are there, on the right side there will be a picture of a USB key with "Valuable Information" written by it. Click on that, and you will enter your mailing address, take a 4 question test, and if you answer correctly, microsoft will send you your key with "valuable"

information on it. Once it comes in, its yours to keep!
Just so you know, I dont know the storage size of it, and it takes about 6-8 weeks to be delivered, but, hey, its free!
(PS, the answers are 2,T,T,T -- but the test is extremely easy anyway

)

When someone receives it could they post the storage size. I am guessing this is probably a 64 or 128 mb because I would be surprised if Bill Gates would give away free 2 gig usb keys

.

Some have repoted it as small as 8MB and as big as 64MB. It's nothing fancy. In addition, some have also reported, that you cannot erase the data on it. However, I'm it can be don.e

http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=437795Thats all people speculating Yano. No one has received it yet to know what size it really is or if the data on it is erasable. I wouldn't expect it be all that large a stick, but one never knows. I don't know how many they are giving out but they are still allowing you sign up so that is a good sign.
For those of you who may be worried about receiving spam because of this I will tell you that about two years ago Microsoft did something like this concerning their Visual Basic .NET 2003 software. I signed up and not only did I receive a free complete full version of Visual Basic .NET Standard

but I have yet to receive any spam because I signed up for it

( I did not check the boxes to receive offers from the third party providers though, that may make a difference).

Darn I wonder if we can still get a free copy of visual basics... really got to keep your eye peeled on those sites never know when there are free giveaways.

Well, if you can't "erase" the data on the drives, there's always the option to re-format it

... heh

Well i've order mine! Surely we can put our tech-heads together and get around the erasing thing. I don't even know why i want one ecause i have a 1gb one already, but I couldn't turn down a free offer!
I wonder who'll recieve it first!
I wonder if it will take long to ship to the UK?

I have Googled around.
And among the questions expressed here there are a couple of others.
As in is it RAM or ROM?
And will it be read only, or no?
LOL Time will tell.

Maybe Bill Gates blocked it by putting something in a security update but I know basically half of the people here can run linux somewhere to format there
If there is a way we will find it
BTW this is a pic of me

Myself and a friend both took the test and neither of us have received the thumb drive as of yet. But as long as it takes Microsoft to do things I would be surprized if we get them in this year. Probably next year or never.
I am sorry but you are just going to have to wait like the rest of us. Actually I went to Wal-Mart and bought a 256 Mb one for less than $20.00 - it is a Scandisk Cruzer. Works great.
