First welcome to BC.
You should go to Boot Disk.com and download the ME boot disk. Is the '98 disk '98 or '98se? Is the disk scratched or damaged? You can use car wax to buff the CD if it has scratches. Having used both program, and since upgraded to W2k, I prefer '98se to ME.

Hi Acklan

Thanks for the welcome,..
One question..............Am I able to just install the ME even tho the old os was Win98?
acklan
Yes. Yu will have to format your drive first. Boot with the floppy, and select Start with minimun support. At the A:\ type format c: and press enter. It will display a message Warning all data will be lost if you continue. Do you want to prceed? YES or NO. Answer YES. This will allow ME to be installed when finished.

If you had problems with virus I would wipe the drive prior to FORMATing. Here is some freeware to help...

Active@KillDisk-Drive Wipe Utility

What are the speces on your computer?
Jilly
Thanks again Acklan

I havent a clue what the specs are as the computer wasnt working when I got it, All I no is it ran win98 and broadband, And was working when it was given to my mother wacko.gif

If you want a much easier OS try Puppy Linux. It is about a 60mb download and can run on almost any computer. It is freeware. If the computer has 256mb of RAM you do not even need a hard drive.
Jilly
Thank you ... Worth a try..

I hate giving up, especially when I no that it's something so simple as the os installed back in to work again.

DON'T you dare give up grinner.gif Nothing dealing with hardware is difficult. It just takes research and patience. You have the best resource on the net right here. We will talk you thru it. You can boot to the BIOS setup screen (probibly press F2 or F10). You will beable to see what most of your hardware is.
