Full Version: I Keep Getting Redirected To A Search Page!
BleepingComputer.com > Security > Am I infected? What do I do?

I took my firewall down about a week ago (for some reason) and while it was down I got some sort of spyware or malware on my computer that keeps redirecting me to this page www.errorrelatedmatches.com or to be more precise if I were to search for google I would get:

http://www.errorrelatedmatches.com/failure...=www.google.com

when I open up the source page and read the html coding the spyware seems to be operating from a site called www.tmsyn.an.ask.com, but that site apparently doesn't exist, or if it does exist my computer can't access it because of the spyware.

I've tried running adaware, trendmicro and norton and nothing will pick up what is doing this. Any help I can get to remove this thing - or even if someone can tell me what it is or where I got it - would be muchly appreciated.

I should also point out that I'm fairly computer illiterate so any help you give me will have to be very clear and basic or I'll make a mess of it ^_^

Thanks

Hi There smile.gif

I have read your post and i think it would be wise for you to post a HijackThis log for an expert to review. I bet you are wondering what HijackThis is. Well it's a program that is simply able to show others what's going on inside your computer, in terms of infection etc..

I recommend you follow the HijackThis preparation guide which can be found here. It is important that you follow the guide closely. A number of scans will be run which may well fix your problem.

As the guide says, after you have completed the scans that are recommended, please post your "HijackThis" log in a new topic in the forum found here. Please add your system infomation and also what problems you are having. Please wait for a few days and one of our experts will get onto fixing your computer for you.

Please be aware that this new year we have been swamped so it may take a week for a reply.

I had someone email me and tell me that it might be related to the neopers toolbar, so I am going to uninstall that and see if it makes a difference. If not I shall do as you reccoment. Thanks.

It is part of the neopets toolbar. I am not sure how to get rid of it if you want to keep the toolbar.
