I had spyaxe and others on my computer, I researched this forum and found
a post giving me instructions on removal. Let me first say I was installing
Norton Internet Security 2006 when this first reared its ugly head!
I believe I followed all the steps...However when I get to the last which was
to run Panda Activescan, I was told to make sure autoclean box is checked
This I did not see on the sight. The system was scanned and the report came back
with several infections but in order to wipe them out I had to purchase their product.
I then figured maybe I would unistall and then re-install NIS.
When I do this, NIS does a pre-scan. I continue to fail on this first step, this has been
continually happening for over a 1 week. So I figure I still have this bloody thing
buried someone within the system and NIS is picking it up and won't install correctly
because of it.
Bottom line is now I don't have any Antivirus/Security running and am even more vulnerable.
I see that everyone runs their scans and then posts them, I'm not sure exactly how they are
doing this, otherwise I would try and post my reports.
One good thing is that the "taskbar warning " that my system is infected is now gone.
Any suggestions, I've spent way too many hours on this.
For anyone that replies remember you're dealing with someone who knows very little but
is willing to learn.
Thanks in advance
Kathie
