I unloaded all the pics off a CD into my documents so i could get rid of some i know longer wanted and then made a new copy. I clicked on each one seperately to toss them into the recycle bin and then deleted them from there and threw away the older version of the CD. About a week later, i broke the new CD! Since it had only been a week, trash hadnt gone out yet so i found the original in there only with some kind of blister kind of thing on it. Neither open to show any files on them when i put them in the drive.
Is there any hope? Pictures of my 5 year old when he was a baby, my first cruise, etc............

There is an application called...errm... PC inspector file recovery (dang...it's been a long time. I almost couldn't remember the name):

It's free, and I have used it tons of times to recover data.

I tried recover my files and didnt even see the names of the pics as they were when i tossed them, just thousands of things i have no knowledge about anyway, likely from my son being online. Plus, it wouldnt recover unless you buy. If this one really is free.........thanks.
I just wish i could actually open the CD itself, would be so much better.
If they can remove scratches from CD's, you would think......

PCInspector is for use on your hard drive. Look for .jpg or .gif files and save them all to a new folder where you can examine them with a thumbnail viewer to see if they are the photos you are after. The filenames may have been changed in the recycling bin process.

It's possible specialist data recovery companies may be able to recover the images even from the broken CD, but that will cost money. I'd be making some phone calls and getting opinions on your chances and some quotes.

I know this will sound odd, but I have polished cd with car compund polish and was able to use the disk long enough to recover files.
It's fourth down time to punt (try odd things).

They are two of the same stuff only one has about 10 images more than the other. One is split on one side and taping did no good and the other, the foil stuff is blistered in one small spot. A guy i ended up hiring couldnt help with them but mentioned a place that might be able to save them later on so as not to throw them away which i wouldnt anyway. He took my hard drive and came back with 100 images on a cd and only about 6 of them were from the CD which means my comp does still have them in the guts somewhere but i guess he will have to burn all 30 thousand some odd images he found and let me go thru them, lol.

Was the CD scratched or else?

It was scratched pretty bad. I went real slow. I hand buffed it for 30+ minutes. We made a copy imedately but he can still use it. It was DB files (Access).

Oh well this one is raised up somehow, someone called it the foil........anyway, i was told nothing could come from there until better technology comes along at least and in the process of trying to recover from computer, managed to compress something and cause its death ending in an 85 dollar bill from taking it in to a shop to be dealt with...........i hate computers!
And now, my printer and scanner that were previously on here and fine wont allow themselves to be FOUND........aaarrrghhh!!!!
