I was surfing the web, and all of the sudden a blue screen came up over my desktop that informed me my pc was infected. i used ad aware to scan my system..first round was 174 that i had to delete..I noticed there were still 4 files..i scanned a second time, and they were deleted, but my system is still infected somewhere.

There is a screen that pops up every so often reminding me of this infection. it says to "click here" to protect my pc from spyware. when i click on it vanishes and nothing happens. I am not really pc literate, but know a few things...I need advice on this matter, if anyone understands this one.....I DON'T

the first click introduced an application that scanned your pc finding basically false positives.
The next few clicks using the program probably introduced it's malware and now you really are infected, most likely.
please post a HJT log, here:

I don't know what you are using other that the ad aware, but now days you need to have an anti virus, a firewall, an anti spyware and adware programs. I use AVG, Spybot Search and Destroy, Ewido, Sygate, and Firefox because it is a stand alone browser (there are security problems associated with M$ Internet Explorer). I would suggest downloading and scanning with at least the spybot, and ewido.

What you are describing sounds like pup-up adds, usually these are pesky at worst, and you could try this to stop them.
