ok i dont know if its illegal or not but i have a few avi files that i would like to convert to mpeg-4. is there a program that can do this easily? only thing i've really run across is videora but i have no idea if its any good. anyone have experience with it or know of something that can do this?

I don't have any information on videora, but here are 3 articles on converting .avi to .mp4., that might be of use.

havent tried that 3gp thing yet but i will next. tried videora today and managed to convert a coupoe of videos and import them to my ipod just fine. however for some i noticed that image size is kinda distorted (too narrow or too wide) and the sound is sorta faster than the video. any quick fix to this or is this due to the converter.
