A purchase of a cheap hp printer and XP Home sent me to find and install Office 2000 and Word 2000 upgrades to get the printer to work. I should have followed my first instincts and taken the printer back to WalMart but I'm pretty well housebound and the shopping was done for me and I didn't have the heart to make them go back. It's so cheap I thought I would just keep it for a spare...a spare that works.
I found the updates on MS, but when I went to install I got the same response: "The expected version of the product was not found on your system." I eventually got Word kb895333 and Office O2kSR1.a installed by going in on the Properties window and setting WIN95 as the system used. Which is weird as I used WIN98 before XP. I can not get O2kSp.3.exe (Office 2000Sp3) installed. I get the same message as above.
I'm started thinking maybe my copy of Office 2000 needed something else. I've had it for several years but not bothered to upgrade because I don't use it that much anymore. In fact, I would like to just use Word and Outlook in the future. I was told to go into the Office files and use MSO2000Premium or data2MS1. I could only find the data file. There you can repair or install 0ffice again. or uninstall. It was named Office 2000 Primium sr-1a. I thought it was showing the my update of s2kxfa-a was installed. However, when I uninstalled everything, that is what came up again using my copy of Office2000. I still couldn't get the Sp3 file for Office to work?
What do they meant when they say the expected version isn't on there?
Any help out there? I would appreciate it.
