I can't remember if you can add a usb device to windows 98. Do I need to download some driver to make it work?

According to MS:

QUOTE
If you are using a supported USB controller with Windows 98, USB support is enabled by default, and you do not need to do anything else.

For more info see Supported Universal Serial Bus Host Controllers for Windows 98 and Windows Me.

Check with the manufacturer of the device to see if it is supported in 98 also.

Thanks, the mfg. of the jump drive does not support win 98 FE. I will try some other way to copy my old files to my new winXP computer.

If you have a router map the '98 drive to your XP computer and drag and drop. Just open My Computer and go to the target folder (on the XP computer), then open My Computer again in a different window on the source computer (the '98 computer) and drag the folder/files over.
If you don't have networking use a USB cable between the computers And run the Networking Wizard for direct connection between two computers.
The router works best and has more speed.
