The file bsdmplyer32.exe appeared in my starup programs a couple of days ago. I imagine I got it forma download as usual. The file path is in the windows system32 folder, but I can't atually see the file there. If I try to delete, disable or edit it from mike lins startup control panel, it immediately returns. I aloo cannot remove it from Autoruns or by deleting it fom the windows registry. Cannot find any reference to this file by googling it. Does anyone know why it can't removed and is it anything to worry about? Thanks.

incorrect spellng, no e in it so it is BSDMPlyr.exe duh!

These 2, will help prevent spyware/malware from being installed in the first place:
Spywareblaster
SpywareGuard

Download them, update them, and then run them.
These programs, updated and used regularly, will do a lot to keep your computer clean of spyware, trojans, keyloggers, browser hijackers, etc...

When installing ewido security suite, under Additional Options uncheck:
Install background guard
Install scan via context menu

Important:
Please read this tutorial on Spybot S&D before using it. Spybot can do SERIOUS damage, if not used properly.

Hi, Thanks 4 replying. I have used Spybot, Spyware blaster, ad-aware, microsoft spyware and done scans at trend micro 4 a long time. The others you mention I am not familair with. I don't use IE, but I had a bad experience about 6 months ago where my new broadband provider, Blueyonder, runs an install process that only uses IE and it allowed literally hundreds of infections onto my pc. Before then, I had few problems.
If I remember correctly, I wasn't paying much attention at the time, microsoft spyware popped up saying that the file in question was tryiing to install itself to the startup register, and I selected the block option. However, that apparently didnt work cus it is very firmly fixed in the startup registry and I can't move it. I will try the other programs you mention when I have time. Thanks.

Ok I have manged to delete the entry from the run registry by doin it in safe mode. There you go. I don't know a lot about this stuff, I dont know whether it is the the antispyware stuff that undoes the delete in normal mode or if it's the norm without it, but anyway it worked. Thanks.
