I need to reinstall the JVM for Windows 98 first edition but I can't find it anywhere.
I also tried to uninstall the J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 but it's missing a .dll.
I have also searched the Java site for the one I need, but I haven't found it.
If someone could maybe point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance,
Altishima

Have you tried installing over the program then try to uninstall.
Try
http://www.dll-files.com

When trying to uninstall J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 I get this error:
QUOTE
Error 1723. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.
for installation/modify:

The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
It then asks me to find the folder containing the installer package jre.msi

You can get the MSJVM
here. Run the Installation Check first to see where you are at before downloading and installing.
You can also try running the
Windows Installer CleanUp Utility if you want to use the Sun Java, but I've never had too much luck with it.

I used the link you suggested, and downloaded all of the versions of MSJVM, but when I try to use any program that requires the JVM, it still says that I need to download it.
I'm not sure how to fix that problem. Any Ideas?

If you are using Internet Explorer go to Tools, Internet Options and under the Advanced tab make sure there is a checkmark in front of "JIT compiler for virtual machine enabled (requies restart)". What version of IE are you using?
Some good troubleshooting ideas can be found at www.javatester.org.

I am using IE 6 SP 1.
I also tryed to re-enable through my browser, but that didn't help either. Right now, I'm using the site you suggested for more options.
I just tried to modify J2SE JRE/w JVM 1.4.2_10 and received this error

Do you have a java icon in your Control Panel? If so clear the cache.

I have 2 icons in my control panel; neither of which can be used.
I received this error when I tried to use them:

The directory name is invalid. C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0\bin\javacpl.exe
QUOTE

That indicates to me that Java is not installed. Go to Start>Find>Files and Folders and do a search for java. See if you have that folder in your Program Files.
Did you try the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility?

I did try that as well.
Apparently, my Windows Installer isn't registered, but when I tried to re-install Windows Installer through Windows, it told me that it was already on my computer. I'm really not sure what to do with that.
As for the Java, by searching my C:\ drive I found J2RE 1.4.2_10 the application located at C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_10\bin\....and the WS version of that as well
