Full Version: Usb Ports Not Working

I am running Win2000 on a Toshiba Tecra 9000. I had to rebuild the complete OS several months ago. Since then, I have had off and on usability of my 2 USB ports. Now, neither of the works at all.

I recently bought an ipod. I tried connecting it up through the USB ports and I get no connectivity. What is odd is that there appears to be a connection at first - the ipod shows a connection. But after 1/2 a second or so, the connection goes aways. I have tried a USB mouse as well. Same problem.

I have looked in the Device Manager. The USB ports show as running normally. I have used the USBReady.exe utility. That shows the USB ports are working.

I am getting conflicting information and I do not know what to do. Before I spend the $ to have someone look into this, I would like to see if someone out there can help!

Thanks.

Go to your device manager and try updating the drivers for your usb ports, hubs and controllers.

Even if they show they are shown to be working properly they may not be written to recognize ipods.
