I have two anti-virus programs, Avast and Panda Titanium. Anyway Avast picked up a virus in Panda but it won't let me do anything with it. Access Denied etc. Any advice?

z_silversurfer_z: You should always stick with one Antivirus and Firewall application. There is not a problem with running multiple spyware detection/removal programs. With your antivirus program, conflicts will arise when a virus is detected and the competing antivirus programs try to deal with the virus. You are seeing this now with your protection. I recommend that you remove one of the antivirus programs from your computer. Or, at least disable the real-time protection of one of the programs.(disable it from running at start-up).

I always complement my current antivirus protection with periodic scans with an online scanner such as TrendMicro's HouseCall.

What would you recomend I do? My subsription for Panda has just run out and since it did not pick up the virus should I remove it from my system? Would Avast, being a free anti-virus, be good enough?

As long as you choose and keep one of them. The choice you make is up to you.
Avast is a choice of many. And is a fine program. Plus it is free.
On the other hand some prefer to have paid for programs.
It all boils down to a personal choice.
Free antivirus' are just as good as thier paid for counterparts. IMO

AVG Free Edition is yet another great free antivirus.

Maybe do a bit of research first. And compare each of them against the other.

It may not even be a virus, the last time I downloaded the Panda setup file my AV detect a "virus" in the setup program. It was actually picking up part of the virus definition within Panda dataset and reporting it as a virus.

If you haven't been infected the virus you mention I suspect this is what is happening to you. A recent update to Avast may have caused this to start happening.
