I have my regular A/V program that I update and scan with on a daily basis and wondered if occasionally I could use Trend Micro?
The reason I am posting this question is that I notice that an "Activex" needs installing for the program.

I had used the program some time ago when my notebook was acting a bit strange and this scanner did find something. At that time I did not see the information regarding the "activex".
Is this something new or did I miss seeing this, as I mentioned it was time ago when I used this scanner.

I would appreciate comments, thankyou.

Trend Micro, is one of the online scans recommended by the members of this board quite often, me included.
Most of the online scans require an ActiveX control to work, that's why most of them will only work using Internet Explorer.
Just because it says ActiveX, doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad thing, it's just that writers of malicious code will sometimes use it in the garbage they write.
ActiveX can be used for good, and evil.

If you want to use a scanner that doesn't use ActiveX, Trend Micro has an online scan that doesn't require it.
You can run this scanner using Firefox, which doesn't use ActiveX.
