can anyone help me how to ghost ibm os/2? i really need to back up my files...what software should i use? any suggestions and recommendations are highly appreciated...thanks

I use, like, and recommend Digital Dolly. It is not OS specific since it boots to Red Hat from a CD. It will partition, format, wipe, image, and has a hard drive diagnostic feature. I find it very handy.
Download it to a folder on your drive and unzip it there. You will need to burn an .iso image of the contents of the folder, not the folder. If you drag and drop the folder your computer will not be able to see the .iso files to boot. It will boot to a Red Hat based GUI. It will work on anything from a P-I 200mhz that I know of.

thanks a lot acklan for the info.i want to be more specific,i'm using ibm os/2 for a specific machine that used in smt (surface mount technology) most of the files are programs for that specific machine and its using an old hardisk w/c can crash anytime.thanks again.

I understand. Dolly should work fine. If you are nervous I can understand. Make a test copy on another drive. I have been using DD for several year with no problems.

I am curious what you decided to do.

I downloaded DD and burn it using alcoholsoft. I try boot the disk and it works but when look the OS supported by DD are Windows and Linux only. How can I use it for IBM OS2? Thanks for your time.

I must aplogize. I was unaware of this. I also must confess I have never used OS/2 so I was unaware it was not a compatible system. Is OS/2 a NTSF or FAT format?

It's OK.I'll try to install new OS/2 then I'll try to clone it using DD.I really don't have an idea what kind of file format OS/2 has been using.

I'm doing my best to obtain infomation about os\2. Review this link and see if it helps. According to the link, os\2 uses FAT16 and HPFS. I have not read about NPFS in years, but if I remember correctly it was at one time to replace FAT16 for the '9x series OSs. It apparently never took off.
