I got Yahoo SiteBuilder and finished making a site and now want to publish it for free on the net! I am fine if it has to be www.yahoo.com/sitename or anything like that sa long as it is free and no-adverts so how do I do that? Thaks for any help provided!

You would go to http://my.yahoo.com and login. Then somewhere in the control panel, it should give you the option to upload your pages.

Edit = Now that I think about it, does yahoo give out personal web space? You may need to get a free hosting account somewhere. I believe Grinler gave you a link already.

Looks like you need to hit the publish button in sitebuilder. They may have a prepriatory thing is there software where you have to use their paid hosting services for the forms to work..

True but cant I do it for free? I dont have any money and I dont mind a sub-domain like ww.yahoo.com/whatever or even with crappy specs?

I don't think they offer free web space, the free host you have should work fine for your needs. I would go with a different authoring program because the free one from yahoo is ment to be used on their paid domain hosting. Try this free "What you see is what you get" HTML editor to build your site with. http://www.virtualmechanics.com/products/dwarf/info.html

If you have HSI, try http://www.no-ip.com and run your website from your own computer. It's a free service, and you can use XP Pro to host using IIS, even from a Dynamic IP adress. You can even have your own domain for about $40/yr. Your only space limitition is your band wigth and hard drive space.
Just one more option.

Yes I signed up the thing is do they provide a Site Builder or do you build it your self and then host it?

The website will be on your computer. The limits are what you set. The one limit will be bandwith. Upload from your DSL line will be 128kbs to 512kbs, right? I have 768kbs from my cable.
The beefits to this is you not only have your website but can access your computre from anywhere you have internet access.

Yes you are right. I have a seperate computer hooked up for http. If you have an old computer you could use Windows 98 and the Personal Web Server and that would be the only computer visiable from the net. Use port forwarding to allow only it to be access from the net. It's like setting up a computer to P2P game from behind a router.

You can use any computer. A P-I 200mhz with 64meg RAM will run a website just fine. You could pck up one for $20 at the GoodWill. You don't even need a keyboard mouse or monitor. Once it is configure with the OS you can use RealVNC to run it remotely over your LAN. Create you pages on your primary computer then drag and drop to the webserver. As soon as the transfer is complete they are online. Simple.

I would really not recomend using using a win98 (or any of the Windows desktop OS's) as a web server. It is just asking for trouble.

Try FTP Surfer. I find it user friendly. Has a small banner ad but other wise freeware.
I was referring to your second computer on your LAN (if you choose to go that router). In 98 PWS you would have a file folder that the web page would be in. Not a server like Apache or W2k advanced server. If you have win98 check out MS PWS (Personal Web Server) and see how easy it is to set up.

It's not secure by any means, but it is a cheap easy solution if you don't want to learn server. I used it for a while to have access to .pdf files online for work. I just had 98 and 1700kbs of forms. I never had anyone mess with it but worst case I would have just formatted the drive and reinstalled.

That product is a opensource "wysiwyg" editor and does not have any restrictions on where you publish the site. After you are done making your pages, upload all the files created by the program to your hosting account on 50webs.com per 50webs.com instructions on how to upload files to your hosting account. It should work (for the most part) just like it does on your computer when creating them in the program.

Did you upload the file with the images?. You also have one that is linking to your D drive.

What do you mean linking to D Drive? I just opened CuteFTP then just upload the files in MySite (D:\Program Files\WebDwarf\MySite) to the website the following files were there:

AUP.ims

Out of that only index.ims, AUP.ims and Privacy_policy.ims is my site? the rest I dont know and all the iamges I used were in that image folder?

Help Me! Please!

I think I found the problem! When I turned Index.ims and uploaded it it works! But I dont remember how I did it! CAn you please tell me how to turn .ims files to html files? Thanks!

Should be the way you are publishing the files. The program should publish it as an HTML fie and not an ims. I belive that .ims is how it stores the file inside the program before it publishes it to html format.

For some reason it doesn't appear to be doing that? Anyway I am looking for a good template to use on Dreamweaver...
