Hello all,

This is my first post & just would like to say I enjoy this site---it's already enabled me to rid my pc of some very undersirable crapware, thanks.

As for my question -- The connection speed for my wireless network is very erratic, it will move from 2Mbps to 11Mbps; I'll notice the web seeming slow/sluggish & I'll check my network speed & it'll be slow. Do I have a hardware issue, ie, router/wireless card?

Thanks
acklan
I would start with a full scan of you antivirus, antispyware, and run a firewall. I have a list of software that you can look at..

Antivirus
AVG Free Edition Antivirus(I personally use)
Avast Home Edition Antivirus Freeware
AntiVir Personal Edition Classic Freeware
BitDefender 8 Free Edition AntiVirus Freeware

Antispyware
Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta
Spybot
AdAware SE Personal Edition
Ewido Security Suite - 14 day trial
A Squared Free

Utility
cCleaner
Everest home(hardware information and diagnostics)

Firewalls
Sygate 5.4(I personally use)
Zone Alarm

Best of all... they are free.
Rimmer
Just remember 1 Anti-virus program, 1 Firewall application, many anti-spyware tools. Plus an online scan every now and then.

poster_oops.gif Thank you Rimmer, I left that out. Firewall and AV programs don't play nice together.

Are you sure your the only one thats connected to your WAP?

If you have not done so , start with a firewall program. I prefer SyGate but any except MicroSoft will do. It will tell you what is trying to, or in fact, accessing the internet from your computer. Write down any blocks you receive. For now just block the acess you deem bad or are unsure of. Later you can permently block them.
Let us know what you find.
