It just started today. My mouse seems to double-click on its own or something. It's getting annoying really. I checked Start, Settings, Mouse and it's all the way I want it with nothing having changed. Do I need a new mouse or is it something else? It's clean. It's the typical mouse with the little scroll thingy between the left and right clicking buttons and the black ball underneath.

So you will move it and it will just click on its own?>

Here are some examples of what's been happening....
Earlier, I had two folders open and was trying to put some files from one folder into another. I was using the click and drag method but instead, the file would open up as if I double clicked it. That happened a few times. Also, playing card games, uses the click and drag method, made it difficult because it would highlight a card, then undo, and highlight again, sometimes doing this a few times or more. Also, when a browser is minimized so that it is small and not sitting on my taskbar, I tried to slide it (back to when I was moving files from one folder to another) over to the left or right and it would just maximize the browser or file. I sure hope this all makes sense.
So, it seems like it's behaving as though it's wanting to double click without command so to speak.
Is it time for a new mouse?

Do you have any mice laying around that you can try?

Btw I am moving this to the appropriate forum

I've got one boxed up somewhere I can compare. Sorry about the wrong spot.

Take a good look at the wire. It is possible that it is kinked or frayed. Also, you can try to remove it from the computer, wait 30 seconds, and put it back in.

It is probably time for another one though.
