I heartily agree,
Curly1880, I've using it the entire time spent at this computer. It's real consistant, it's accepted by MS Windows Update to satisfy the anti-virus needs as set forth in SP2, they update it with all the new virus definitions about once a week and.... it's
Free. Such a deal, huh?

Thanks you'all I will be going to AVG Free shortly myself. I have had Norton AV on both my computers for 6 months. All of a sudden one of them will not do its weekly update--"saying something wrong with your internet connect" I'm sure the internet connect is OK--settings exactly the same on browsers on both machines. I think that the program has somehow gotten itself corrupted. I could uninstall/reinstall but I'd rather go on to a new AV. I don't think I will contact Norton and complain about the pirated copy of the NAV corporate I have been using.

While no AV is absolutely perfect, AVG free edition is very good and well-rated by independent audits;it is updated as frequently as the paid version, usually one or two times a week. I have used it for several years, and whenever I have done a test scan from one of the web-based AVs, these have not found anything AVG has missed.
Cheers,
