The best way to tell if you have an internet connection is to try pinging an outside (internet) source.

Try this:

• Click Start
• Click Run
• type cmd
• type ping google.com

If you get a timeout or destination unreachable, then you don't have internet.

You could try several sites just to make sure.

ping yahoo.com
ping cs.com
ping cox.com
