Ok, so I have been having this problem with my speaker system. Its been going on for a while, but its gotten more annoying lately. I have the Dell 5650 Surround sound speakers and a Creative 24bit Sound Blaster sound card. The speakers are hooked up properly to the computer.

For some reason, when i do certain things on the computer, the center speaker mounted on the monitor will make a loud tapping noise, similar to someone flicking wood with their finger. The noise is irrelavent to the volume, so if i turn it up, i can barely hear it, but if i turn the volume down, Its much louder.

I tried recording it and i noticed that when i hit record, it would make the noise and then stop, so i would click stop on the windows recorder to make sure that the sound file wasn't just 3 seconds of tapping and then nothing, but 2 seconds after i stopped it, it started up again. And if i let it run, it stopped after about 5 seconds, so i think its being caused by giving the computer a command, but im not sure.

also, i run off of windows xp Pro

(PS, does anyone know why my speakers make an obnoixious hissing sound when i get a call on my NEXTEL cell phone?)

Move the speakers away from all computer components.
