This is the first site I am going to make! Me and two of my friends are making a froum site (just like this) but for PC games! Can some tell me a good FREE web-hosting site? And also some few good pointers! And which program or language should I choose? I dont know any languages but wil learn after been advised by you guys! I want it to be like this people can sign-up, post posts!!

Well I saw you posted in the other forums so you saw the free host I would suggest. Anyways I think you should try invision free for a message board. Its just like this board but hosted free. Just go make you one. I used it for a while before I got IPB Demo...

What is a mask?

Board name is the name of the board. Like this one is Bleepingcomputer. Come into the chat room of BC and lets talk! I will be there for a little while. Hit "chat" at the top of this page.

Well you get the free hosting,find a template for your site(also free) and then edit it and add the content and links.

CGM has a very good site himself; I am sure he can give you a lot of tips he learned by the old trial and error method.

Just do up some basic rules real quick. They can always be tweaked later.

One place to start is to read the Forum Rules here or any really good gaming site, and adapt them to your forum. Rules in gaming forums should be careful to prevent spamming, flaming, violating copywrite law (game codes, "free" copies, etc.), and conduct unbecomming a human being. All of these seem to be dominant in game forums.

Also I have this member (my cousin) we made the site how do I make him a global mod? I can make him one but from where do I specfically make him moderated or take control on forums? So is there a panel where I can maually change his acces to different forums?

CLickthru is no good. I tried it and have to remove a banner from my site. No-one see's your link so no-one comes back. They only stay the 30secs they have to to get there free credit. These type of programs do not work. Real traffics comes from targetted places like search engines and links from other sites.

The mention of those in bold red, are most important!!! The rest are standard, but neccessary. Especially if you wish to run a quality site. Not a trashy one. IMHO

You should check other gaming sites Good ones. That are respected. Would be your best bet. And look over thier rules. Gaming sites could have slightly different rules than a site like BC.
