Strange happenings with PC. Firstly wont start, then starts and cpu alarm goes off with a burning smell. Pull it to bits and discover PSU is dead. Check other things..HDDs etc in another PC..all working. Try other PSU in sick PC..works but alarm stays on. Is booting up ok and no heat in CPU so run for a while and see what happens. Everything is ok, other than sound. The onboard sound card...asus onboard sound max...doesnt work at all. Reinstall drivers, and still no sound. Then try another sound card also with no result.
Totally confused now. There was no heat at all in the CPU after about 3 hrs use, and everything worked fine, other than the alarm, and no sound. Any ideas anyone as to whats happening?

well, first of all i would like to get your cooling system!! what is the mdel of asus you have?, have you checked bios settings? is the clock speed correct for the cpu? is the integrated sound turned on or off? check with www.asus.com for an update for your bios.
