Ok whenever I try to run some kind of video file on my computer, the colors are all messed up and everything is brighter and I don't know how to fix it. I've been having this problem for weeks so can someone help me?

What is your operating system? Go to Device Manager and look for any question marks or exclamation marks. Click the plus sign beside Display Adapter and tell us what it says there.

Go to Control Panel.
Double click the 'System' icon.
Click the Hardware tab.
Click the Device Manager button.
You will see a list of hardware devices recognized by your system.
Do any of them have a red or yellow symbol beside them?
If so look at the properties of the device indicated (by double clicking on it).
Tell us the name of the device and the message in 'Device Status' when you double-click it. Also tell us the info found under Display Adapter.

Im guessing youre trying to use Windows Media Player (latest version)
If so
View > Enhancements > Video Settings
fiddle with the brightness..

When you open Media Player there is a small round button in the upper left corner. Click that to enable the menus.

Under display adapter it says NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200. PCI Simple Communications Controller has the yellow thing. when i double click it, it says The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver. which im gonna do

Leurgy

PCI Simple Communications Controller is a device on your motherboard. Do you have a CD with the motherboard drivers? If you do, you can run that but make sure you shut down everything else first, including anti-virus, and disconnect from the internet.

Fix that controller first. My settings are specific to my computer as are everyone else's. Actually, mine are the default.
Run
Belarc Advisor and let us know what your motherboard is and we'll help you find the drivers you need.
