The Norton anitvirus program that came preinstalled with the t6212 I bought my son recently is always acting up. I'm willing to admit I'm completely lame and don't know how to combat Norton's tendency to usurp everything on the computer, but I'd rather use a different antivirus. I already took the thing back to the dealer who erased everything and started over, but Norton's still not right.

Any suggestions?

Yes. I fought it and lost. I really feel something like avast is much better, more reliable, and free. You can download from www.avast.com. It does require registration but that is not a problem.

I was a long time user of Norton/Symatec products till the 2004 editions came out. Today you won't catch me with a "new" Noton/Symatec product. It seems that Symatec has lost sight of their original mission and seriously lost touch with the users of today. As Gunner has suggested for a free AV Avast is a good product. There are also some reasonable purchase products available too. Two that come to mind are NOD32 and Kaspersky. However Kaspersky doesn't play that nicely on machine that doesn't have at least 512 of ram.

Be (AV) Safe

p.s. Don't forget a good working firewall too.
