Im Trying to set up a web server with windows nt & internet information server 4. Ive set up my modem to port forward all web server traffic to my web server. i have a static ip on my server. Yet when i post the address to my friends they get a "cannot find server" or a action cancelled when they didnt cancel it.

Are you using a dialup modem or a DSL modem? What type of router are you behind? which port did you forward to? Did you include the forwarded port in the address? Example //123.456.789.1:8080 www.YourWebSite.com:8080 (8080 representing the port and the : needs to be included. The default port is 80 and like /index.html is the default home page :80 is understood to be the default port). If you change the port you need to include it into the address.


Example Default www.YourWebSite.com
Forwarded www.YourWebSite.com:8080
