Full Version: Browsers Won't Access Internet

When the OS loads, I can access the internet using Maxthon or Firefox for about 10 minutes at the most, and then I get C:\windows\system\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm.

The only way to access the internet is to then restart my computer.

Other programs such as AIM or Trillian are having NO problems utilizing the internet.

I can ping websites in DOS with no problem.

I'm pretty sure it isn't a WINSOCK problem because I have cleaned all of that business up using a program.

Please help me.

What is your operating system? Have you recently made any firewall changes?
StoicObloquy
I don't normally use a firewall, but I had installed ZoneAlarm yesterday just to check it out; I have since uninstalled it and I also have no antivirus software running.

I'm running Windows 98SE and I'm direct connected.

Has this problem started since you uninstalled ZoneAlarm?

DSL or Cable? Do you have a router?

Get an Anti-Virus program and do a scan. See our Virus & Malware Resources for some free programs. I use AVG 7 but Avast and Anti-Vir are effective products too. Ad-Aware and Spybot are a must have also. Kerio or Sygate are popular free firewall programs that use few resources.
