Aero: The name of the new user experience and interface for
Windows
Vista.

Aero Glass: An Aero theme that is the most graphics intensive
utilizing 3D graphics, animation, transparency (glass) and other visual affects.
It is rumoured that only cards with at least 64 MB of memory or more and that
support DirectX 9 will be able to use this theme.


Avalon: A programming interface that will allow programmers
to create applications that are tightly integrated into the core functions
of Windows Vista. This includes a new graphics interface as well interaction
with connectivity and storage.


Indigo: The next generation web services platform based on
.Net.


.NET: The microsoft strategy that includes methods and applications
for designing and building complex applications and Web services.


RSS: Though this acronym has a few meanings, it is most commonly
known as Really Simple Syndication. It refers to a way of managing and important
lists of information from various sources so that it is manageable and eays
to use. Windows Vista and IE7 will have strong RSS capabilities integrated
into these products.


Sidebar: The sidebar was an extra bar that would appear on
the side of your Windows screen that would contain customizable information
or widgets. Unfortunately, this has been removed from Windows Vista.


Virtual folders: Virtual Folders are search queries that
are represented by graphical folders. They are not actual physical folders
but links to predetermined or custom search queries that can be used to quickly
find and show documents that match a certain critieria.


WinFS: Windows Future Storage is a database driven file system
that allows for greater manipulation and customization of folders, files, and
data types. This will not make it into the initial release of Windows Vista.


WinFX: Windows Vista's programming model that incorporates
Avalon, Indigo, and eventually WinFS.
