my computer crashed recently, and i have no cd's to repair.
running wxp mc edition 2005. I've seen instructions somewhere, but don't know
where to start really. here's what i have. an uninfected pc. and an infected laptop.
a memory stick, and a bit of time. I could use the help.
basically. how can i get all the data to boot onto the memory stick from my pc, and
then just stick it in my laptop and boot from it? obviously my os is crap now.
so i could really use some help.

I think you are confusing boot with data transfer
If your computer is as trashed as I believe it is, I would not save anything.
You will probably just infect the computer all over again

a linux live CD or, you can actually install linux onto a USB stick and boot the computer up that way and pull off any files that way, there are also various rescue discs you can use like kaspersky, though Ive had limited results with that, but it might work. if you can get the PC to boot in safe mode you might be able to run some anti-virus software and clean it up. as far as reformatting it, even if it was possible to copy the OS from your PC, it would be probably be illegal unless you have two windows licenses. Linux however is free and you can install that, Ubuntu is rather easy to learn.
