Got a quick question concerning the performance meters on my sidebar.

Running Vista HP, dual core, 4 g/ram.

I have two meters on my side bar. One shows real time activity, fluctuates considerably when I open a different web page, second meter pretty much stays constant and when there is a change in the indicator, it's usually gradual.

Right now the second meter is showing approx. 50% usage. I can go in and run MBAM and SAS and the meter will drop back to the low 30% usage. There's usually nothing in either of these logs except a few cookies, usually around 4 or 5.

My question, why would clearing cookies make the usage meter drop so much? Doesn't seem that it would make that large of a difference in usage with just a few cookies.

Just a quirky questin, nothing I'm worried about..

There shouldn't be any correlation between the two. My guess is that there are some services/background programs that are opening up when you have the higher readings.

It also could just be a matter of Vista being Vista. As you said though, nothing to be concerned about.

That's kinda what I thought about Vista just doing what it does. I just wondered if tracking cookies could actually make that big of a difference in the usage.

Oh well, just another strange quirk with Vista.
