I would like to remove Sortware Explorer. Until they fix the bugs and functionality of this program running on Vista, I would like to either remove or disable it. But I have no idea how, and so far, neither does anyone else. I have looked all over. I know I am not the only one who does not like this program. It has seriously slowed down my computer startup since Windows Update installed it. I can't manager anything that MS doesnt recognize. So, the program is continuously running. I run several online programs in my desktop and it does not like this. Not to mention it occasionally crashes my computer. (Yes, I do know it is this program).
Anyone know how to do this?

I figured out how to turn it off when Windows starts up. I just right click it in the tray and exit. And my start up speed increases dramatically. I don't know how to permanently disable it though. Would still like to know so I don't have to keep messing with it.

Windows Defender is included with all versions of Windows Vista and is part of the operating system so it cannot be uninstalled. However, you can disable Defender.

I don't have a problem with Defender, just with Software explorer. Would like to disable just that specific program.

Are you aware the Software Explorer is a component of Windows Defender? So you need to read the configuration options of Windows Defender.

Yes, I do know its a part of Windows Defender, and no, you cannot configure or disable Software Explorer.

Well I will be forever damned. I never heard of Software explorer so I went to defender, tools, clicked software explorer to see what it said and the the illegitimate rodent started itself. I guess I will shortly see if it causes problems jlea4win. Just damn.
