hope in right forum.
When you go into the screen resolution section i have all these...
800x600
1024x768
1152x864
1280x720
1280x768
128-x960
1280x1024
1360x768
1360x1024
1600x1200
1800x1440
1856x1392
1920x1080
1920x1200
1920x1440
2048x1536
Why so many? Mine is set on 1024x768 and won't change to any other. the one before 800x600 makes it bigger i think. i want to change to the next one after 1024x768 but it changes to nithing. i can change 16 bit to 32 bit and vice versa.
what's up?

Look at your monitor for the answer. Does it support a higher resolution? Do you have a "driver" (really an .inf file) installed for it? When you right click the desktop, go to the advanced properties and see if your monitor is recognized for what it as, rather than a plug and play one.

I think there would be a driver there somewhere because you won't get anything. But i don't much about it i just thought it strange that a LCD monitor can't change resolution from 1024x768. I think there is a driver there was a 18mb update for it about a month ago i don't know if it made difference or not.

i found on the internet about my monitor BENQ FP547 it maximum resolution is 1024x768. That ain't much a little rediculas. My old monitor on my old pc was a 15" standard monitor and i could change resolution infact there wasn't as many choices as what i have here but it changed to all of them this monitor won't even change to 800x600 it only has 1 which is 1024x768.

I guess then you have found the answer. Its unfortunate that your monitor has only one resolution that can be used. Its something I've never seen. Perhaps all LCD monitors are like that.

That's standard for LCDs. Its in the nature of the design since the pixels are made up of individual liquid crystal cells you can only set a resolution which does not exceed the number of cells across the screen. You can set lower resolutions though.
Having said that I think 1024x768 is a pretty good resolution for a 17" monitor.

yea, thats the max (i have done research) but if you go to 19.1" LCD then your resolution can go to 1280x1024, but my dad gets a lil (explicit) if u know what i mean

According to the
manufacturer's specifications its a 15" monitor with a fixed 1024X768 resolution. You can get the driver (.inf) file and the manual there too.

I was assuming it was a 17" since that's the most common size now and 'cause the model number ended in a '7' but it seems that is not the case.
I'll say it's very good resolution for a 15" monitor!

Well i do guess it's a 15" LCD. i didn't think it was a 17". My ex-neighbours had a 17" (not LCD) but was a nice size. a 15" can get a little clutted when MS Office applications are used and the internet when you have to move the scroll bar left and right to read the pages. Also up & Down. I suppose for a $1299 P4 2.8ghz 512mb ram, 128mb graphics/video, DVD-R/DVD-RW/CD-R/CD-RW player/burner for CD & DVD, the old floppy drive, speakers, 15" LCD screen, keyboard & optical mouse , 80GB hardrive, i guess i can't complain. Also getting XP Home OEM, NTI burning software, SONIX labeling software, Works 7.0, AGE of mythology game, flight stimulator game, Linx (Golf) game. I suppose i got what i paid for.
i was thinking of adding another 512mb ram and the cost is $79.

If you download that driver you will have the best communication between the video card and the monitor. Go into Device Manager and click the plus beside Monitor. If it already shows BENQ FP547 then its installed properly. If not highlight whats there and go to properties. Click on Update Driver and point it to the .inf file.
