This may be a stupid question, but how do you check what speed you CD-ROM drive is? Thanks.

Find Device Manager (you don't mention what your operating system is) and click the + beside Cd or Optical drives. It may tell you the speed there. If not it will have a make and model number. You can google that for the specs.
