I am having an outstanding problem with my internet hanging after about half an hour, and even if I go out of internet explorer, i cannot get back on to a web page. The only solution is to completely reboot the pc. The problem there is that the pc will not respond to either restart or shut down. I am having to pull the plug just to power off.

I have disabled items in 'Manage Add ons' and that didnt work. I have even reset internet explorer, and although it seemed quicker, after half hour the internet hung and i couldnt restart or shut down.

I even read somewhere about the internet hanging with Flash player 10 - so I removed that and went for version 9 which was ok for about a week, and then i got the same old problem.

I sent an email to HP support, and they sent me links to download and install for something to do with the Bios, and something called a modem/fax driver, and it still didnt work. Infact I tried to remove them by using System Restore, and after an age of restarting, it told me 'System restore had encountered a problem' and that the restore hadnt been done!

This is doing my head in. Could someone have a look at this please.

This problem could be unrelated to internet explorer. Does this problem persist if you leave IE alone and do something else like watch a movie?

Cant tell because I dont watch movies on the laptop.

I have scourged the net to find answers. The latest one is the problem being related to Avast antivirus, which is what I have, but I just dont know.
