Hi all, it seems that after my anti-spyware scans my pc automatically deleted a windows file named 'wininet.exe'
Without it I can't use search engines on internet nor post messages on forums on internet (this is the reason I'm posting from a different pc) and so on..

Could anyone please help me getting back 'wininet.exe'?
Tnx alot smile.gif

It's used to be located in C://windows/system32/wininet.exe
(probably a systemhidden file)

I did a search for the file under our start database and at CastleCops.
Here's the info I found:

System Update2 X wininet.exe Added by the Autotroj-C TROJAN!

I don't think you really want to bring it back.

You should post a HiJackThis log in this forum:

When I first say thie question, I though maybe it might be related to my problem (see my post on this section about yahoo zip file problem), because I did not have the file either, and yet I have a wininet.dll file and several copies. Are those legitimate files?

K tnx smile.gif , I just heard in the HJT part that wininet.exe is a trojan, but I can't acces search engines and other stuff that has something to do with fttp/ftp/other webservers.. when I searched mircosoft.com (on a different pc) I noticed wininet.dll came most close to my problem, the problem is.. there's nothing wrong with that file, it's located at the direction it should be.. so it's really confusing wacko.gif
