Hello friends,
Does anybody know why pipeline of Intel 8086 is 6 bytes specifically and something else? And why it is of 4 bytes in 8088

Dear milind,

My Goodness!! 8086!! 8088!! I haven't worked on those in 18 years!

I just wanted to post to let you know, you were not being ignored.

You know, my Father may know something about it. He keeps all kinds of old manuals.

Will let you know,

Best I can remember is that the 8088 (4.77mhz) came out with the IBM PC and PC XT. I think with the roll out of the AT - 8086's came out with 8Mhz speed. Seems like there may have even been a 10 Mhz version. The 8086 would have been an improvement over the 8088 and hence the bigger bus size. I think the 80286 came out shortly there after.
