I'm going to be buying a new video card, either this..
Sapphire Radeon™ 9250 - 128bit 128MB DDR 8X AGP TV OUT DVI
Or...this
Sapphire Radeon™ 9550 - 256MB DDR 8X AGP TV OUT DVI

I want to buy the 256MB one, but my processor is 1.06Ghz right now, and my friend is like flipping out at me saying BUY THE 128MB ONE! the 268mb won't work, it will be bleep!...I don't know if he actually knows what hes talking about, or he doesn't want me to have a better video card then him...he has a 128mb one... He says that my processor will hold back my video card and make it almost worse then the 128mb one...I have a 64mb ATI Radeon 7000 right now...oh I have 512mb SDRam...So...Is this true? Will the 256mb run like bleep? it will it run awesome? Please help lol....I need to know.
Thanks.
TEB
The processor has nothing to do with the graphics.....either he means that the processor being so bad will affect the quality of the game or hes full of it.

Because of your relatively slow processor, I'd say you may not notice too much of a performance advantage between 256 MB VRAM and 128, but it wouldn't be a detriment.

Hmmm..too much performance?...I want all the performance I can get... lol..my friend claims that www.steampowered.com forums know everything cuz all these little script kiddies are in there talking about video cards and how some suck bad and others dont....I dunno...hes messed in the head i think

Does your motherboard support 8X AGP? Thats the question to answer. I don't imagine it will. Do you know what mobo you have? (Make and model number).
and2002
It's a Tyan S2390 / Trinity KT
Leurgy
Nope. According to this it only supports 2X/4X.
and2002
Hmmm, I was just talking to a buddy of mine ( Computer Tech ) and he said the video card would still run on it, just not at 8x :D...
Leurgy
He's right. The specs on that card say:

QUOTE
System Requirements
Intel® Pentium® 4/III/II/Celeron™, AMD-K6®/Duron™/Athlon™/Athlon™ XP or compatible with
AGP 4X (1.5V), 8X (0.8v) or Universal AGP 3.0 bus configuration (4X/8X).
128MB of system memory
Installation software requires CD-ROM drive
DVD playback requires DVD drive

Found that here.

Leurgy
Glad you found this helpful and that you like the forum. Tell your friends. smile.gif

I don't know what kind of performance hit you'll take since you'll be running the card at 4X, but I'm assuming it will be better than what you have now.

That 9250 you mentioned is a 256MB PCI card according to this. I wonder how that would compare. Or did you mean the 9550?
and2002
It's a 9250 AGP..
Sapphire Radeon™ 9250 - 128bit 128MB DDR 8X AGP TV OUT DVI

Thats the exact one smile.gif
Leurgy
Weird. Can't find any info on it at ATI.
