Hi there people,

This past week or so I have been getting a BSOD it says (apart from the usual)

Machine_Check_Exception

The stop code is:

STOP: 0x0000009C (0x00000004,0x80545FF0, 0xB2000000, 0x00070F0F)

And then it says:

Beginning physical dump of memory

At first I thought it was some virus or summat but I've come to the conclusion that its a hardware issue..with Papakid's help; I posted a HijackThis log here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/HJT_ganna-t21322.html

Well at first it seemed that the printer was the issue but even after unistalling it I'm getting this BSOD....any help pls?

It is helpful...but slightly scary too ...when identifying by error code it is very ambiguous.

Any suggestions as to how I can fix this problem?

Some more information would be helpful.

How much memory do you have?

What processor do you have?

I assume your operating system is XP. Home or Pro?

Have you changed any hardware lately, or is it possible that you or someone else has overclocked your system?

How large is your hard drive?

Was your system an upgrade or a full install?

Does it happen more often when you do something in particular? (Like play a game, or surf the net?)

This does sound like a hardware issue. It may be something as simple as bad memory, or too small a page file.

I suppose it would be a good idea to know which motherboard you're using, too.

Well my system was a full install (I built it myself)

Memory: Corsair 512MB Value Select - PC400 DDR memory

MB: Gigabyte K8NS Ultra S939 Full ATX Motherboard

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 - 3200 - Socket 939 CPU - OEM (+fan)

Hard Drive: 160Gb 7200rpm 8Mb Buffer - Seagate IDE Hard Drive
+Cooler: Icydock MB122AKGF Black LCD HD Rack/Cooler

OS: XP Pro

It seemed to happen when I ran a MSAS scan....it happened once so far 2 days ago (sometime after I uninstalled MSAS) since then I disabled PmlDriver HPZ12 and I haven't had a BSOD yesterday

Three possibilities immediately come to mind:

Large enough power supply?

BIOS updated?

Bad memory?

I'd start by running Memtest86 to see if it finds any errors. You can download it here. It's a bit tricky because you have to create a bootable CD or floppy. You can do this with something like EZ CD Creator. If you don't have something like that, the floppy might be easier.

You can let boot up your pc with it and let it run through as many times as you like - it won't stop until you tell it to.

If it doesn't find any errors, we can go on to the next step, which would be to check the BIOS version.

I ran the Memtest and it seemed to be fine.

On a positive note my pc was on all day yesterday & I didn't get one blue screen!
