Hi!
I have just wirelessly networked my pc and my laptop and i am using aol broadband on both.
However, when I use p2p software such as ares, i get very slow downloads unless there is 5 or more sources.
Before i set up wireless, i was getting constantly quick speeds
I have set up something called port forwarding for gnutella but i am not sure how successful this has been
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Wireless encryption will slow down your connection speed. When you say you set up port forwarding, what exactly did you do?

Ahh thanks, i will disable wep and see how that helps
To forward the port for nutella, i followed all the instructions on
http://www.portforward.com/english/routers...4M/Gnutella.htm

I have disabled wireless encryption, however i can not notice any difference in speed!
Will this leave my computer open to other people using my wireless? i live in a fairly remote are so this shouldnt be a problem?

I wouldn't leave WEP disabled if it doesn't provide a boost in speed.
If you followed those instructions properly then there really shouldn't be any difference in download speed, beyond the delay caused by the encryption. Did you set up the static IP Address? I've never set up a wireless system to use P2P but port forwarding with a hard wired router will get you speeds comparable to a system connected directly to a modem.
