A lot of laptops require that you hold down an 'ALT' key in combination with the 'Num Lock' and others. The tip off is if the NUM LOCK and ALT are written in a different color; typically blue instead of the normal white.

Anyways, I suspect all that has happened is the laptop boots up with NUM LOCK enabled; very annoying. Once you solve the Alt+Num Lock puzzle all should be well.

Dear Connie,

You say when you type on the keyboard you get numbers?

This may not be good for you. Do you know any computer savvy geeks in your area? Not big stores.

If you do, ask for a free diagnostic on your laptop. They shouldn't ask for money to find a problem.

When they tell you the problem and the price to fix it. Say you need to save up for it and will get back.

Come to us with the problem and price. We will tell you if it is worth it.

Let us know,
