TexasAngel67
Okay, sorry I was wrong, that's what I get for not knowing and asking the wrong person, lol. I didn't think it sounded like Emmylou Harris but since I don't know her music much, I wasn't sure.

The answer to yours is Pearl Jam "Daughter".

This game isn't working out like I had hoped it would. I guess there just isn't enough music fans out there in the member base. It's been more confusing than anything since there's not enough participation and my last post still hasn't been answered. Maybe this type of game would be more fun in Chat.
chiefmasterjedi
I would love to see you figure this one out:

"If all the people in the world camped out in your back garden,
would you write and tell the king or would you grab a tent and join them"

tongue.gif
Scarlett
Not a clue! unsure.gif
TexasAngel67
OBLIVION, MasterJedi

Would y'all like to try this game again?

"You need to know
I love you so
And I'd do it all again and again"
Pandy
OK TexasAngel67, I cry Uncle. LOL I want to play song burst but I am completely stumped on your verse there. sad.gif whistling.gif
TexasAngel67
Aww np. I would love to bring this back to life, too.

The answer is Lionel Richie "You Are".

A previous answer to a song quote I did was Chicago "Love Me Tomorrow"

Who wants to go next?
Pandy
I'll go next tongue.gif

Then again if I were a king, If I had everything
If I had you and I could give you your dreams
If I were giant size, on top of it all
Then tell me what in the world would I sing for

Sometimes I feel lost
As I pull you out like strings of memories
Wish I could weave them into you
And I could figure the whole damn puzzle out

I know this is probably real easy lol. But I like this band a lot. lmfao.gif
jgweed
Dave Matthers Band?

"The dead shall live/ the living die
and Music shall /untune the sky"

Composer?

Cheers,
John
TexasAngel67
Yes, I believe that's Dave Matthews there (Pandy) smile.gif

You've stumped me good, Jq. I give up.

Next:

"It's like having a dream
where nobody has a heart.
It's like having it all
and watching it fall apart"

(It's a one-hit wonder, I think, but nice song)
Pandy
Ahhh John.. you got it. lol tongue.gif Dave Matthews Band~ If I Had It All
I will guess yours .. John Dryden ~ Ode for Saint Celia's Day
And yes.. I googled. ohmy.gif Sorry blush.gif I still could be wrong tho. dance.gif

TexasAngel.. Hahaha lmao I think I've got you. That is Benny Mardones ~ Into The Night. Ahh sigh.. my heart is fluttering hehe And please?? One-hit wonder? LMAO He is from around my area. He dated a girl I went to school with for a long time. So.. We think the Benny is the bomb. I saw him last fall right in my hometown. He was wonderful. He has still got it going on, still sounds great.
w00t.gif lmfao.gif wink.gif dance.gif

Bury me softly in this womb
I give this part of me for you
Sand rains down and here I sit
Holding red flowers
In a tomb... in bloom

Ok who is this one?? Shouldn't be too hard.
TexasAngel67
Down in a hole by Alice in Chains

P.S. I thought it might be a one-hit wonder since he never really had any other major hit besides Into The Night. I love the song. It has always been one of my favorites. Most people don't know him by name although I never forget an artist or band of such a great song. He is, indeed, the bomb!

Next:

Clark Kent, now there was a real gent
He would not be caught sitting around in no junglescape
Dumb as an ape doin' nothing
ddeerrff
Superman's Song by Crash Test Dummies

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender,
Be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others -
Even the dull and ignorant, they too have their story.

QUOTE
"She said it's lonely here tonight
She's always sad when she's alone
She said I need you here tonight
She couldn't wait 'till I get home"

LOVE ME TOMORROW
Chicago
(Peter Cetera/David Foster)
TexasAngel67
Yes, very good!

Yours had me totally lost so I Google'd it and all I found was that it's a poem.
Max Ehrmann's "Desiderata". I read the whole thing and was quite impressed. Very moving.

Next: Easy but a great song! Ah! Take me back!

"So many people have come and gone
Their faces fade as the years go by
Yet I still recall as I wander on
as clear as the sun in the summer sky"
Pandy
More Than A Feeling? ~ Boston?

Let's see who knows this one...

dance.gif
Come into these arms again
And lay your body down
For 'tis this trembling heart
Is beating like a drum.
It beats for you, it bleeds for you
It knows not how it sounds.
For it is the drum of drums
It is the song of songs.
TexasAngel67
Love Song For a Vampire - Annie Lennox

"I’ll tell you one thing
If you would leave it'd be a crying shame
In every breath and every word
I hear your name calling me out"
Pandy
Smooth ~ Santana & Rob Thomas

Girl you're lookin' fine tonight
And every guy has got you in his sight
What you're doin' with a clown like me
Is surely one of life's little mysteries
TexasAngel67
Angel Eyes by the Jeff Healey Band - great song!

"There'll be no strings to bind your hands
not if my love can't bind your heart.
And there's no need to take a stand
for it was I who chose to start.
I see no need to take me home,
I'm old enough to face the dawn"
Pandy
Just call me TexasAngel of the morning. Is that Skeeter Davis?

I've been travellin' a hard road
baby, lookin' for someone exactly like you
i've been carrying my heavy load
waitin' for the light to come shining through
TexasAngel67
Someone Like You - Van Morrison

Actually, it was Juice Newton.
QUOTE
Just call me TexasAngel of the morning
- very sweet, I like that! lol

"She keeps naggin' at you night and day
Enough to drive you nuts
Pick up the phone, leave her alone
It's time you made a stand"
Pandy
Ahh I am guessing here for real. hehehe er... TNT ~ AC/DC ???

Time and time again I see
A love that seemed strong
Was not meant to be,
Broken hearts don't always mend,
Left two unsure, to try love again.
Pandy
clown2.gif Is my guess wrong? or did I stump y'all? hehe dance.gif hysterical.gif
TexasAngel67
Just between you and me - April Wine (love that song)

It was Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap but close

"In the heat with a blue jean girl
Burnin' love comes once in a lifetime
She found me singing by the rail road track
Took me home, we danced by the moonlight"
cowsgonemadd3
I havent participated in this game yet?? Sorry I dont know many songs...looks fun though!
Pandy
"Stone In Love" ~ Journey w00t.gif

Ok.. this should be pretty easy because it is out now. It is new and I really love this song. I mean every time I hear it I like it more than the last time. I think this band is good and I am really dying to hear more than what I've heard on the radio from these guys.

Good eye, sniper
Here I'll shoot, and you run
The words you scribbled on the walls
With the loss of friends you didn't have
I call you when the time is right
Are you in or are you out?
For them all to know the end of us all

Bye bye beautiful
Don't bother to write
Disturbed by your words and they're calling all cars
Face step, let down.
Face step, step down.

dance.gif dance.gif dance.gif dance.gif dance.gif dance.gif

P.S... Ima google these guys hehe
TexasAngel67
That's Coheed and Cambria - get the CD hon, you'll love it. They are my son's favorite band right now. Great music!

P.S. Journey has had a lot of hits but Stone in Love has always been my favorite.

"Something so deceiving, when you start believing
turn me around again...
Said we couldn't do it, you know I want to do it again"
Pandy
Oooh I will have to check it out TexasAngel. I really love a lot of the new stuff that is coming out these days.

Mmm that is, I believe Sugar Ray ~ Every Morning I like that band too. Mark McGrath is so cute. hehe

Hmmm what shall I pick this time... blink.gif

So meet me by the bridge
Meet me by the lane
When am I gonna see that pretty face again?
TexasAngel67
Coldplay - Rush of blood to the head

Ahem, Mark McGrath is very cute. Ah, what a hottie!

"Maybe it's intuition
But some things you just don't question
Like in your eyes
I see my future in an instant
And there it goes
I think I've found my best friend"
Pandy
I Knew I Loved You ~ Savage Garden

thumbup.gif

out where the blue ridge meets the sky
oh shenandoah, how you filled my eyes
with a thousand blazing sunsets
just us and the stars out on the front steps
dreaming of all the nights to come yet...

hehehe dance.gif this one may be a bit tricky unless you know this band, or if you Google. The founder of this band is female and she plays electric violin ands sings... wonderfully. She is also a former member of The Trans-Siberian Orchestra. I had the chance to see this band and they were fantastic.
TexasAngel67
Groovelily - Reckless and Restless (sorry, had to Google this one)

"Like the stars that fill the midnight sky
Her memory fills my mind
Where did I go wrong?
Did I wait too long?
Or can I make it right"

BTW - I love Savage Garden. I like more of the older songs and bands than the newer ones I guess.
Pandy
A-Camp ~ The Bluest Eyes In Texas

D'oH.. I had to google that one.

I've been around for you
I've been up and down for you
But I just can't get any relief
I've swallowed my pride for you
I've lived and lied for you
But you still make me feel like a thief
phawgg
ARTIST: REO Speedwagon TITLE: Time for Me to Fly

I knew one for a change... Hi Infidelity

He was a hot headed man,
cruder than handsome.
She was terminally pretty.
She held him up and
He held her for ransom,
in the heart
of the cold, cold city...
Scarlett
Life In The Fast Lane ~Eagles~.......I edited the post. It was a girly song. And I wanted to level the playing field when I saw you were viewing it Phawgg. smile.gif
Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul and faith
And I was 'round when Jesus Christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that Pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name
phawgg
Sympathy for the Devil, the Rolling Stones

When at night I'm all alone
Sittin' here waitin' for your voice on the phone
Believe at times it' a cold cold sweat
Thinkin' about things we ain't done yet
Tell me now, I gotta know, do you feel the same
Do you just light up at the mention of my name?
Well don't worry baby, ain't nothin' new....

w00t.gif Girly Songs... hahaha the edited one is good for the Season of the Witch. tongue.gif
TexasAngel67
Bonnie Raitt - Love sneakin up on you

P.S. The bluest eyes in Texas - Restless Heart (don't know A-Camp)

"But how can anyone know what you are to me?
That I'm in heaven again because you've come back to me"

BTW Phawgg, we think it's cool you like girly songs, lol. Just glad you are playing.
phawgg
Jesse, by Carly Simon

Come home there's a hole in the bed where we slept... now it's growin' cold.

Heck, ~67, I was onto Alanis Morrisette's song before Scarlett pulled it in favor of Mick's Monster Hit... I gotta admit, I know more Stones' songs than her's but she has a few good ones. tongue.gif

and BTW, Bonnie Raitt can flat out rock the blues with her guitar and the bands she plays with. 30+ years and she can still pirce the heart with cooly-crafted songs full of drivin' rhythm
TexasAngel67
Jesse by Roberta Flack (another one sings this song too)

~The girly songs are great but since you admit to enjoying them, I'll admit to enjoying the boy bands - not all, but most. I just give credit to talent when it's appropriate. I, too, am more familiar with Stone's songs than Alanis' but I do like some of hers as well. I like so many songs and artists, I couldn't name a single favorite in any genre.~

"So I waited with high hopes
And she walked in the place,
I knew her smile in an instant,
I knew the curve of her face"

I know, this is an easy one. But who said all this has to be hard? smile.gif
phawgg
Escape, otherwise known as "the Pina Colada Song" Rupert Holmes

I was listening to Joan Baez sing Jesse off her Diamonds and Rust album, but I think she might have got it from somebody else...

Well a nickel is a nickel, said dime is a dime, need a new gal, she won't mind... {refrain}
The eagle on a dollar say "In God We Trust" ya' say ya' want to man ya' wanta see that dolla' first... {refrain}
Well if the river was whiskey say and I was a duck, yo know I'd swim to the bottom, might never come up... {refrain}
Pandy
Hot Tuna ~ Hesitation Blues

Sorry.. I googled hehe

Hmmm I am out to stump someone.. but everyone is too smart.

She says baby if you wanna be wild you got a lot to learn, close your eyes
Let them melt let them fire let them burn
phawgg
Candy's Room on "Darkness on the Edge of Town" - Bruce Springsteen

I half remembered that one, and Bruce sings of "baby" a lot, so I had the artist, I thought. It will be hard to stump folks who google, though... tongue.gif

When you're falliing awake and you take, start with a new day... and you hear your voice croak as you choke... on what you need to say... well don't you fret. don't you fear, I will give you good cheer... smile.gif
Pandy
That's right phawgg it's hard to stump google. hehe

JETHRO TULL

"Life Is A Long Song"

This is a song I play at Christmas time.. It has a lovely sentiment, even if you giggle when you see who it's by. hysterical.gif But I love this song, it sounds so pretty. Really you need to hear it to appreciate it. It has some pretty sweet cello in there.

The snow's falling down as you step out of your car
Presents in your arms and you've traveled far
Someone opens the door with a smile on their face
And you know you've come to the right place
phawgg
At Christmas Hanson
I'm chuckling 'bout a couple things
  • your're right, I'd have to hear it to appreciate it. It might help to not know who it's by first. lol
  • It's not quite Halloween yet... are we pullin' out the Holiday Songs already? tongue.gif
Three hundred years ago, I thought I might get some sleep. I stretched myself out on an antique bed and my spirit did a midnight creep. You know I'll never sleep no more, it seems to me it just ain't wise...
Pandy
Tellin' you all the Zomby troof
Here I'm is, the ZOMBY WOOF

Frank Zappa ~ Zombie Woof

Teehe.. I am blushin here blush.gif I can't help it.. so OK. I like Hanson.
I would like to hear that Frank Zappa. When I read the lyrics it made me laugh out loud. ..the Zombie Troof. hehe

In your life
you seem to have it all,
You seem to have control
But deep within your soul,
You're losing it
You never took the time,
Assume that you're to blame
You think that you're insane,
Won't you spare me
TexasAngel67
Breakdown by Tantric

I thank you for the kindness
And the times when you got tough
And papa I don't think I said
"I love you" near enough
phawgg
Leader Of The Band Dan Fogelberg

you brought up one of my personal favorite's better songs, TY

... and with that voodoo I keep thinkin' of you...you...and with that voodoo, what can I do? But it's oh so so so different when we're together, and I'm oh so so much calmer, I feel better...
TexasAngel67
Phawgg,
I am sooooooo stumped! BTW - I'm a sucker for the 70's and 80's. Please post the correct answer and give another one for me (and others) to guess.
phawgg
oh, goody... tongue.gif stump'd 'em
I Scare Myself Dan Hicks & his Hot Licks must recently from "Return to Hicksville"
I scare myself, just thinkin' about you
I scare myself, when I'm without you
I scare myself, the moment that you're gone
I scare myself, when I let my thoughts run...
And when they're runnin' (the Hot Licks: Runnin' Runnin' Runnin')
I keep thinkin' of you (all together: you-ou-ou-ou-ou, you-ou-ou-ou)
some truly delicious harmony... guitars, electric violins, pedal steel...mmm m good BOO!!

...'cause the afternoon's already come 'n gone and I say: who-who-who-who...who-who-who-who do you surprise, surprise?
couldn't see it in your eyes, but i'm sure it's written all over... my face
whistling.gif
Pandy
Phawgg.. you are so crafty. hehe I am stumped on this one and I was stumped on the Return to Hicksville too. blush.gif

holloween.gif
phawgg
it's 'cause your so busy with the great jack o' lantern avatar and things of a higher importance as the All Hallows Eve approaches, Pandy

I'll admit to a wee bit o' slyness re: google. This one's new, maybe not in the lyrical websites yet...It is a very good one though. Starts like this:
"Sunrise, sunrise...
Looks like mornin' in your eyes.
Though the clocks held 9:15 for hours
Couldn't tempt us if it tried...'cause the afternoon's already come n' gone..."

Norah Jones, "Sunrise" on Feels Like Home 2004

Toe to toe, dancin' very close.
Barely breath-ing, almost comatose.
Wall to wall, people hypnotized...
And they're step-ping... light-ly...hang-ing...
TexasAngel67
Blondie - Rapture (finally, one I recognize, lol)

I gave you too many reasons for being alone
When I didn't want to
I thought you'd always be there
I almost believed you
