Okay, sorry I was wrong, that's what I get for not knowing and asking the wrong person, lol. I didn't think it sounded like Emmylou Harris but since I don't know her music much, I wasn't sure.
The answer to yours is Pearl Jam "Daughter".
This game isn't working out like I had hoped it would. I guess there just isn't enough music fans out there in the member base. It's been more confusing than anything since there's not enough participation and my last post still hasn't been answered. Maybe this type of game would be more fun in Chat.

Aww np. I would love to bring this back to life, too.
The answer is Lionel Richie "You Are".
A previous answer to a song quote I did was Chicago "Love Me Tomorrow"
Who wants to go next?
Pandy
Oct 14 2004, 06:22 AM
I'll go next
Then again if I were a king, If I had everything
If I had you and I could give you your dreams
If I were giant size, on top of it all
Then tell me what in the world would I sing for
Sometimes I feel lost
As I pull you out like strings of memories
Wish I could weave them into you
And I could figure the whole damn puzzle out
I know this is probably real easy lol. But I like this band a lot.

TexasAngel.. Hahaha lmao I think I've got you. That is
Benny Mardones ~ Into The Night. Ahh sigh.. my heart is fluttering hehe And please?? One-hit wonder? LMAO He is from around my area. He dated a girl I went to school with for a long time. So.. We think the Benny is the bomb. I saw him last fall right in my hometown. He was wonderful. He has still got it going on, still sounds great.
Bury me softly in this womb
I give this part of me for you
Sand rains down and here I sit
Holding red flowers
In a tomb... in bloomOk who is this one?? Shouldn't be too hard.

Down in a hole by Alice in Chains
P.S. I thought it might be a one-hit wonder since he never really had any other major hit besides Into The Night. I love the song. It has always been one of my favorites. Most people don't know him by name although I never forget an artist or band of such a great song. He is, indeed, the bomb!

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender,
Be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others -
Even the dull and ignorant, they too have their story.

Yes, very good!
Yours had me totally lost so I Google'd it and all I found was that it's a poem.
Max Ehrmann's "Desiderata". I read the whole thing and was quite impressed. Very moving.
Next: Easy but a great song! Ah! Take me back!

Their faces fade as the years go by
Yet I still recall as I wander on

More Than A Feeling? ~ Boston?Let's see who knows this one...
Come into these arms again
And lay your body down
For 'tis this trembling heart
Is beating like a drum.
It beats for you, it bleeds for you
It knows not how it sounds.
For it is the drum of drums
It is the song of songs.

"There'll be no strings to bind your hands

I Knew I Loved You ~ Savage Garden
out where the blue ridge meets the sky
oh shenandoah, how you filled my eyes
with a thousand blazing sunsets
just us and the stars out on the front steps
dreaming of all the nights to come yet...hehehe

this one may be a bit tricky unless you know this band, or if you Google. The founder of this band is female and she plays electric violin ands sings... wonderfully. She is also a former member of The Trans-Siberian Orchestra. I had the chance to see this band and they were fantastic.

Groovelily - Reckless and Restless (sorry, had to Google this one)
"Like the stars that fill the midnight sky
Her memory fills my mind
Where did I go wrong?
Did I wait too long?
Or can I make it right"
BTW - I love Savage Garden. I like more of the older songs and bands than the newer ones I guess.

Life In The Fast Lane ~Eagles~.......
I edited the post. It was a girly song. And I wanted to level the playing field when I saw you were viewing it Phawgg.
Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul and faith
And I was 'round when Jesus Christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that Pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name

Sympathy for the Devil, the Rolling Stones
When at night I'm all alone
Sittin' here waitin' for your voice on the phone
Believe at times it' a cold cold sweat
Thinkin' about things we ain't done yet
Tell me now, I gotta know, do you feel the same
Do you just light up at the mention of my name?
Well don't worry baby, ain't nothin' new....

Jesse, by Carly Simon
Come home there's a hole in the bed where we slept... now it's growin' cold.Heck, ~67, I was onto Alanis Morrisette's song before Scarlett pulled it in favor of Mick's Monster Hit... I gotta admit, I know more Stones' songs than her's but she has a few good ones.
and BTW, Bonnie Raitt can flat out rock the blues with her guitar and the bands she plays with. 30+ years and she can still pirce the heart with cooly-crafted songs full of drivin' rhythm

Jesse by Roberta Flack (another one sings this song too)
~The girly songs are great but since you admit to enjoying them, I'll admit to enjoying the boy bands - not all, but most. I just give credit to talent when it's appropriate. I, too, am more familiar with Stone's songs than Alanis' but I do like some of hers as well. I like so many songs and artists, I couldn't name a single favorite in any genre.~
"So I waited with high hopes
And she walked in the place,
I knew her smile in an instant,
I knew the curve of her face"

I was listening to Joan Baez sing Jesse off her Diamonds and Rust album, but I think she might have got it from somebody else...

"Life Is A Long Song"This is a song I play at Christmas time.. It has a lovely sentiment, even if you giggle when you see who it's by.

But I love this song, it sounds so pretty. Really you need to hear it to appreciate it. It has some pretty sweet cello in there.

- your're right, I'd have to hear it to appreciate it. It might help to not know who it's by first. lol
- It's not quite Halloween yet... are we pullin' out the Holiday Songs already?

Three hundred years ago, I thought I might get some sleep. I stretched myself out on an antique bed and my spirit did a midnight creep. You know I'll never sleep no more, it seems to me it just ain't wise...

I'll admit to a wee bit o' slyness re: google. This one's new, maybe not in the lyrical websites yet...It is a very good one though. Starts like this:
"Sunrise, sunrise...

Couldn't tempt us if it tried...'cause the afternoon's already come n' gone..."
Norah Jones, "Sunrise" on Feels Like Home 2004
