Hey guys,

I have a problem with my PC. It originated from me trying to install Windows XP onto a separate hard drive that I connected to my computer (which operates Vista). The install went fine. However, when I took out the separate hard drive and tried to boot up my computer normally, it gave me an error saying that the "hal.dll file" was either corrupt or had been removed.

My guess is that while trying to install XP, the PC accidentally overwrote that file. Now it thinks that it's booting up XP when in fact, Vista is installed. I don't know how to fix this problem. I went into BIOS to check to see if the proper master/slave were assigned and there is no issue there. It won't let me boot up in safe mode and I can't access the system recovering menu. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks a lot!
