My Acer Aspire 3680 laptop will not work, at all. I am not able to boot in safe mode or get to DOS, even! =/

There's several different reasons for this error.
The first thing to try is to run Startup Repair: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html

Once that's done, also run the Windows Memory Diagnostic from the same screens. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial146.html

Finally, download a bootable hard drive diagnostic from the manufacturer of your hard drive. Links to the most common manufacturer's are in this topic: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic28744.html
