Hi mikek07,
So long as you're within the same building you should be able to wireless network OK. If you just want to share files & resources you need to put a PCI wireless network card in your PC and a PCMCIA wireless network card in the laptop. Set up IP addressing, workgroup name and SID as per manufacturers instructions and you should both be able to talk to one another in a peer-to-peer arrangement. If you want to share something like a broadband internat connection then you need to add a wireless router to the list and you both connect using the router as a gateway.

Wireless cards can be expensive (but getting cheaper by the week) and if you just want to transfer a few files then what about a USB flash disk, otherwise known as a pen drive thumb drive or memory stick? They are really cheap now and can be obtained in capacities up to 4GB so they can hold a lot of material.
