I need to convert a video file (QuickTime/.mov) to something I can use in Windows Movie Maker.

Is there something already on my computer that will do this or do I need to download something?

Also. Does it make any difference where the file is located? I placed the video into the same file w/the still images from my cameras mem card.

The images/video are located in a "My Documents\My Pictures" file.

Try using SUPER© by eRightSoft. Very good program! Just install it. Run i then drag the file to be converted and select and output file type at the top (you should select .mpg (Mpeg I). Then click Encode (Active Files) at the bottom and wait and the output should be in the same location as the original file!

Windows XP it's self does not have a built in way to convert QuickTime files into Windows Media Video files (.WMV) Or Audio Video Interleave files (.AVI). Both AVI and WMV are compatible with Windows XP.

Depending on how big the MOV file is and your internet connection speed you can use the website http://www.mediaconverter.org/ . This will allow you to upload your MOV file and their website will convert it to a WMV or other file and when the file is done being converted they give you a link to download.

This one is even better: http://media-convert.com/. I prefer converting online. The freeware programs usually can't handle very many formats.
