Bots are programs that are programmed to interact with instant messenger users or forums so that they seem like real people.

Do you have a link to an example post?

Sorry, but I don't have a link. I am curious as to what purpose the program would serve. Is it just for amusement? crazy.gif

Generally just for amusement or to help a task. For example there are bots that when you ask it a question, will search for an answer and give it to you.

In addition, some chat rooms use bots to monitor texts for "banned" words in an effort to keep the language acceptable.

Thanks guys, It is clearer (if that is a word) now. Both reasons make good sense.
Very annoying though. laugh.gif
