I recently upgraded my entire computer, and have noticed that I am getting an aweful lot of APPCRASH messages. Few specs before I get going:
PC Hardware:
Foxxconn A7GM-S motherboard
AMD Phenom 8450
OCZ Reaper 4gb (2x2) RAM
EVGA GForce GTX 260
I am running Vista Ultimate x64 w/ SP1.
As far as I know I have all the current updates for hardware and software. I use a lot of design software for work, including AutoCad 2007 (known Vista issues), and Solidworks 2009 x64. Now, here are the programs that have died on me with this error:
AutoCad (already knew it would have issues)
DWG Editor (Solidworks version of autocad)
Firefox
Zoom Player
Photoshop CS3
Also, this is most likely a solidworks issue, but the "solidworks shell server" crashes at fairly random times, ie. whenever solidworks is not open.
I knew I didn't like Vista, but I had to make the jump to utilize the hardware power, PLEASE HELP ME.

The DWGEditor program associated with SolidWorks is crashing when it accesses memory.
Also, I'd wonder about the advisability of installing both AutoCAD and the SolidWorks programs on the same system.
I'd uninstall and then reinstall SolidWorks to deal with this error - but if it continues then you may be forced to choose between AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

I have run both with no issues for years at work, granted it is running on XP, but they aren't known to have any conflicts with each other. Not sure if this was the issue, but, I removed DWG Editor and now I have not received a shell extension error since. I will have to see if anything new happens but I haven't had any errors today. I know there are elements of solidworks running in the background most of the time, so if this cured my problem, then great. If not, I'll be back.
