Hello

My Windows Defender freezes at C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.net\FRAMEWORK\v1.0.3705/ko/mscorrc.dll

while I'm running in Safe Mode (+ Networking).

My computer failed to reboot recently, I deleted a few files in Safe Mode, then it rebooted with the error saying something related to "rstrui.exe".

I'm at a loss of what to do to fix my computer. It was running fine until recently. Now whenever I run Windows Defender, it freezes.

Please help. Thanks for your time.

Also, I just ran chkdsk /r and it took forever, pausing in Stage 4 to note that "Windows replaced bad clusters on file 15893 of name C:\WINDOWS\MICROS~1.NET\v1.0.3705\ko\shFusRes.dll"

Have you tried using System Restore or System Restore from a command prompt in Safe Mode to return to a previous state before your problems began?

Safe boot and Normal boot allowed for System Restore; however, there was only one available date to which to restore to (when I first booted Windows XP up months ago).

Problems solved. I don't know what caused it, but it was a fluke I suppose.

Now you should Create a New Restore Point to enable your computer to "roll-back" to a clean working state from here on.
