I needed to find out what TINTSETP.EXE is. So I looked here
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/T...P.EXE-5758.html

Apparently not much is known, so I thought I'll post everything I see:

On my XP Pro computer, it is in C:\Windows\system32\IME\IME\TINTLGNT folder
size 455168 bytes, size on disk 458752 bytes, modified August 04, 2004, 7am
Version 5.2.0.2801
Description/Internal name - a dozen or so chinese characters followed by 2002a
Copyright Microsoft Corp
Language Chinese (Taiwan)

Purpose is Input Message Editor which helps to process and translate text with the Internet Explorer web browser. Few Help files ( .chm) indicate it's some sort of phonetic editor, and might be on the language bar, so I suspect if the language bar is enabled, that's what would start it in addition to running at startup, according to this registry entry

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
has these 2 entries
"PHIME2002ASync"="C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\IME\\TINTLGNT\\TINTSETP.EXE /SYNC"
"PHIME2002A"="C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\IME\\TINTLGNT\\TINTSETP.EXE /IMEName"

I just saw it, don't need it, and think will delete from the startup key.
XP home has totally different entries in the IME folder.

You are correct that it is a valid Windows component which makes me ask why would you want to risk your system's integrity for one small single entry?

Well, the Startup list suggests it's not needed at startup. So why run a service that's not needed. It's a small (<512 meg) and slow computer, so saving resources makes some sense.
I don't use Language bar, let alone Chinese typing.
Will I kill it? well, I haven't decided really. All I really wanted to do here was add info that the Startup link said is unknown.
Thanks for worrying about my well being though smile.gif
Besides, that dog of yours looks trained enough to fix what I break smile.gif
